Dear Friends and Partners,
Last year, many of you partnered with us to strengthen medical care in DR Congo and we remain deeply grateful. Your generosity allowed our Congolese partners to care for patients in some of the most challenging circumstances imaginable. Thank you!
This year, we are inviting you to join us again in meeting one of the most essential needs for health and survival: clean, dependable water. In the rural northwest region of DR Congo, families often walk long distances each day to collect their daily water. Unfortunately, most of it is collected from the ground, where diseases like cholera, typhoid, dysentery, and parasitic infections spread easily. These illnesses are especially dangerous for children—many do not live to see their fifth birthday simply because their water is unsafe.
Yet clean water changes everything.
From 2017 to 2025, working alongside local partners, we built 21 potable water sources, serving villages of approximately 5,300 people each. During this same period, diarrhea‑related mortality declined by about 53%, underscoring the life‑saving impact of clean water. This impact is made possible through a community‑centered process. Congolese water technicians collaborate with village health centers to teach communities about the risks of contaminated water while sharing the message of Christ. Together, they construct protected water sources and ensure the village understands how to care for and maintain them. Through this approach, each community takes ownership of its water source, helping build long‑term sustainability.
However, several of these water sources urgently need attention. Over the past year, our technicians identified four water sources that have failed completely, forcing families back to unsafe water. These breakdowns also affect health centers, which cannot safely treat patients or prepare medicines without clean water. In one community, a months‑long water blockage caused severe hardship until emergency repairs restored access.
This year, our goal is to help six villages, by building two new water sources and repairing four existing systems. Each water source costs approximately $10,000, and every single one has the power to change thousands of lives.
We invite you to give a gift of clean water—whether toward a repair, a portion of a new water source, or the full cost of a spring—that will bring health, hope, and the love of Christ to communities who urgently need it. Together, we can ensure that families in DR Congo have what every person needs: clean, dependable water.
Thank you for considering this lifesaving work. We are truly grateful for your compassion and partnership!
With deep gratitude,
Renée N. Hale
