Your Solo
Ringo Starr had but one drum solo in his career with the legendary rock group, the Beatles.* He had but one opportunity to have center stage attention, then to fade into the background as part of a team. Yet, that drum beat became the foundation for the new Beatles sound that would chart a new course in music history.

Today we are charting a new course for medical service in Congo. The PCP Medical Ambassadors are part of an exemplary team coming alongside Congolese medical professionals to chart a new course in live-saving procedures. Each Ambassador, as a part of a Focus Group, first dedicates him or herself to learn about the medical realities and the challenges to care for almost one million people in the Congo’s Ubangi region. The Focus Group charts a course for strategic and effective training in this developing world context. At some point, like Ringo Starr, many of these professionals have their “drum solo” in Congo where they travel to Ubangi to train the Congolese in medical practices and procedures. These dedicated doctors, nurses and administrators give of themselves. They then turn it over to the dedicated folks on the ground who are on the front line of caring for their people in the most basic and desperate of circumstances.
Become a part of the Medical Ambassadors team! In this issue of The Promise, we are calling for medical professionals to become a part of the PCP team that will chart a strategic course for medical service in Congo. Undoubtedly this team of people, like the Beatles, will change the face of medical practices in Ubangi. Maybe not with a drum solo, but with sustained support by training others in Congo. Keep reading in this issue of The Promise about the PCP Medical Ambassadors program and join us!
Blessings!
