Merry Christmas to our Medical Ambassadors!
It is a beautiful time here in Maine, snow on the ground but 50 degrees. It is a far cry from the weather our friends in the Ubangi experience as we all prepare to celebrate the birth of our Savior.
I know that you will join me in thanking God for the successful containment of the Ebola outbreak in southern Equateur DRC. The Congolese Ministry of Health declared an end to the epidemic last month. The CMH acted quickly and efficiently in dealing with this situation, we should also be grateful for this.
Our rapidly expanding Focus Groups (see sidebar) seek to continue the powerful work of “training the trainers” in small, easily replicated skills training. A surgery training trip is planned for February 2015, additional courses in trauma intervention and infant care are planned as well. The trip is led by Dr. Bob DeMaster, Drs. Kurt and Linda Lindquist, Dr. Jerry Oliario, nurse Ann Hagensen, and myself (Dr. Eric Gunnoe). Congolese doctors, nurses, and instructors from the nursing schools will travel to the Karawa hospital for four days of training. My next letter to you will be full of stories from the trip.
We thank you for all you support. We ask for your continued prayers and that you consider joining us in other ways as well.
Jesus Bless,
Dr. Eric Gunnoe
