It was a long and dwindling fall season here in Portland, ME. Mary Stockmeyer and I had a chance last month to welcome Meritt Sawyer and Nicole Weldon - the Paul Carlson Partnership staff - to town. The purpose of the visit was to work, but we took some time to see the sights of Portland, to eat together, and to visit. When we finally sat down to work, a few hours into the first day, our little group quickly became more than the sum of its parts. Here we were, four individuals with vastly different experiences, skill sets and personalities working together to accomplish something none of us could have done alone. And we realized, this is the strength of the Ambassadors.
Our goal is to have eight focus groups up and running by the end of 2014. Some of them are already operating in full force, some are still just a dream, and the rest are somewhere in between. Each of them is shaping up to be more than the sum of its parts. Even though our focus groups are made up of individuals with a common specialty, each member brings different experiences, skills and personalities to the group. Collaboration is our strength in each focus group, the Ambassadors as a whole, and in our partnership with the CEUM in Congo; together we can accomplish far more than we all could working alone. Plus we get to have some fun and make friends along the way.
Every one of the focus groups needs more people right now, but this recruitment is not about filling chairs. We invite each of you to consider becoming a unique and vital piece of the hands-on work we’re doing together in Congo. As you look over the list of focus groups below, please keep in mind that we would also love to be introduced to any friends or colleagues you believe would be interested.
We are continually thankful for your financial support and your prayers, especially as we prepare for two focus groups to send a training team to Congo this spring. You are already an essential member of the Ambassadors. Thank you all for coming together to be the support for the great medical work that PCP, Ambassadors, and the CEUM are doing in partnership in Congo.
