Good Friday 

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate. 1 Corinthians 1:18-19 

Jesus constantly challenged the powers of religious and political authority.  
Jesus consistently took the conventional wisdom of his age and ours, and stood it on its head. 
Jesus demonstrated that weakness can be strength. 
Jesus' suffering is life saving grace for us.
And Jesus was God all the while, with clarity and a generosity that people had longed to know, but had ironically rejected when push came to shove during Holy Week – leading to a cross. 

The cross stands as our key symbol and reminder of what lies at the heart of our faith, for it tells us of God’s passionate love for all – it tells us that even the greatest of sacrifices is not too much for God when it comes to restoring our relationship with Him for all eternity.
