Advent greetings, PCP family!

Our deepest gratitude for your steadfast commitment to uphold Paul Carlson Partnership and our partnership ministries in 2020! As we approach the 3rd Sunday of Advent, many are preparing to light the “joy” candle in the Advent wreath. This joy in anticipation of our coming Lord will be celebrated this Sunday in the Covenant Church of Congo, too. Our great joy in this season is Emmanuel, God with us; in all things, and in all ways.

As you scroll through this message, please enjoy the joyful news we are honored to share with you. God is with all of us in The Gospel going forth through our partners in holistic healthcare, flourishing coffee growth and export, and building bridges.

May you truly experience the joy of God with us this Advent and Christmas season.

On behalf of the PCP team and our international partners,

Renée Hale
Executive Director
Paul Carlson Partnership
We're Almost There!

Karawa coffee is on its journey to Chicago! This week we learned that nearly 1,600 lbs. of beautiful green Karawa coffee is packed and about to ship, arriving by late January 2021. Another 1,600 lbs. will follow soon. What joy it is to thank the Lord for His provision in this movement to revitalize coffee growing in northwest DR Congo!

Paul Carlson Partnership, the Covenant Church of Congo, and Café Africa continue to partner in building this Congolese owned and operated cooperative. There are now 2,185 families represented in growing coffee, and 1.2 million coffee plants have been planted since 2018. Nearly 2,500 acres now host coffee plants.

Many thanks to everyone for supporting the Karawa Coffee Project through PCP’s fall campaign to raise $190,000 by December 31, 2020. We are well on the way with $170,000 given. There’s still time to help reach our goal! Give here.

Have you pre-ordered your Karawa coffee? To date over 600 lbs. have been pre-ordered! Join those who are anticipating fresh Karawa coffee delivered to their doors in early February. Makes a great Christmas gift! Pre-order from Everybody's Coffee

COVID-19 Update
DR Congo continues to see only a small impact from COVID-19, unlike the US and Europe. The second wave in Congo (daily cases increasing from 20+ a day to 150 + a day) has not seen a correlated increase in deaths, which remains consistently below 5-6 a day. In the area the Covenant Church of Congo serves, they have only seen one new case since mid-November. We are thankful for such a mild impact for our brothers and sisters in Congo.
Ophthalmology Training
COVID-19 has delayed the start of Ophthalmology training for two nurses chosen by the Covenant Church of Congo to replace the only eye specialist in the area who died in 2017. The nurses will start their 3-year program in Kinshasa in January 2021. Please pray as they study, learn, and keep connected to their families in Karawa.
Team BBC Challenge Exceeds Goal
Retired pastor Dennis Carlson organized the 2020 Team Brothers Biking for Congo Challenge: to bike 45 miles during the month of October during his radiation treatment. The goal was to raise $4,500 ($1 per mile). With many friends joining the virtual bike ride and thanks to many donors, Team BBC exceeded their goal and raised over $10,000! The funds will go toward UCare4Congo, which supports medical care in Congo. Thank you Dennis and everyone who participated!
CovCares: Gifts for Mission

Check out all of the gifts you can give to your friends and family that also support our partners in Congo:

Thank You!

As always, The PCP Team is humbled and grateful for the generosity of our partners who have supported the ministry this year. Amid COVID-19 a lot of plans were changed or went by the wayside including visits to churches and individuals, but we hope that by spring we will be able to join many of you in person once again. Regular, faithful gifts by many have ensured that all normal operations in Congo continue uninterrupted. Major gifts directed toward other large-scale projects will enable the building of new clean water sources and new clinic structures - all of which leads to improved health among the people served in Jesus’ name. Please know that your gifts and prayers are highly valued and never taken for granted.
