Created by the Sesame Workshop (formerly Children's Television Workshop), Panwapa is an interactive site for primary-age children to learn about people in many parts of the world. A child signs on with a password and a user name generated by the site, creates a character to represent him- or herself, and then begins visiting other countries, greeting other real kids who are represented by their own characters. Choosing the DR Congo brings up about 50 participating children there. To learn more, go to the site and click on For Caregivers (parents or others responsible for children).
