Movin' Pictures

This is a place where you can look at short video clips from Congo. These were taken by PCP staff and volunteers, not by professionals, so they're a little shaky sometimes. We add videos now and then, so check back again -- there might be something new!

Mbote:  This is how people in Congo welcome visitors from North America. Look at what many of them are waving in their hands, and see if you can spot a woman with some gifts on a plate. Can you see what's on it? And listen to see if you can hear anyone saying "Mbote."

Jumping game:  Two kids demonstrate the Congolese jumping game called Tobeta Maboko, while a younger one tries to get into the game.

Raising the roof frame:  A crew of local workmen with an American volunteer work together to lift a section of roof frame by hand up to its place, part of a PCP project to put a new, metal roof on the building. (And there are no cranes out in rural Congo!)

Steadying the support:  A PCP volunteer and the local crew prop the roof frame unit in place until it can be fastened more permanently. See if you can spot where they use gestures because they speak different languages.
